FSA ID/FAFSA
Click here for a document that gives step-by-step directions about how to create an FSA ID, which is the first step to completing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).  Both the student and the parent need to create an FSA ID.

The FAFSA is the document that is used to determine how much financial aid a student will receive. All students who might be college-bound, regardless of income, should complete the FAFSA. The window for the FAFSA opened on October 1, 2017, and students should complete the FAFSA as soon as possible in order to help ensure that they receive the maximum amount of aid to which they are entitled.  Click here to start your application; on the average, it takes about 23 minutes to complete the FAFSA.  In order to apply, you will need:

  • The student
  • The student's parent(s)
  • Prior year's tax returns (2016 tax returns for the parent/student)
  • Prior year's W-2 (2016)
  • Social security numbers for both the student and parent(s)
  • Records of untaxed income
  • Asset information
  • A computer with internet access

For more information about FAFSA and types of financial aid (including grants, loans, work study, and scholarships), please see the power point from Financial Aid Night.
