The Summer Food Service Program ensures children ages 18 and under continue to receive nutritious meals during the summer break from school, when they do not have access to school breakfasts or lunches. Children with disabilities and approved individualized education programs may participate through age 21.

Cafeteria News

On March 1st, Due to government guidelines, we will be increasing our “main entrée” price. This is only if the students buy the “main entrée” only. Ex. (pizza, cheeseburger, chicken nuggets, etc.) If they buy a full meal, they will only be charged the price of a lunch. Please encourage your student to buy a full meal. It is not only cheaper to buy a full meal, but they get fruit, vegetable, and milk with the meal. If they do not want everything on their tray, they can put those items on a share cart.

Main entrée price increase beginning March 1

K-5 - $2.75
6-12 - $3.00

FREE AND REDUCED STUDENTS

If your student has been approved for Free, or Reduced meals, please encourage them to go through the lines for breakfast and lunch. Reduced cost for breakfast is .30.

We have multiple items which make a meal. They can put those in their back pack, and take home if they have already eaten breakfast at home.

Breakfast – cereal bars, cereal, fresh fruit, pop tart, cocoa bars, muffins, donuts

Free and Reduced School Meal Program

We want to make sure all of our students have the proper nutrition they need on a daily basis. The Federal Government established the Free and Reduced School Meal Program for multiple reasons. If you have lost a job, your income has lowered, loss of a family member, etc.

You can apply any time of the year. To apply for this benefit you must fill out an application. The Free and Reduced Meal Program covers the breakfast and lunch cost. If your child is approved for Reduced Meals they would pay .30 for breakfast, and .40 for lunch. This is a savings to you of $71.00/month. You would also get the school fees, and school field trips paid for.

This Meal Program also benefits our schools. We receive grants, and funding based on the amount of students that are approved for the Meal Benefits.

This information is also kept very confidential. The students type in a student id#, and there is nothing on the screen that identifies them, which the other students can see. There is also limitations on the amount of staff that can have access to our Free and Reduced lists.

Please feel free to call to ask questions about how to fill the application out. We are also willing to fill this out for you, as long as you have your information needed, and sign the form.

If you have any questions about this program, please contact one of our building administrator, or the Food Service Director to answer any questions you may have.

Charging Policy

The Food Services Fund differs from other district budgets because it is an Enterprise Fund, which is run like a private business. Revenues need to meet or exceed expenditures. Since Clinton Massie Food Service is self-supporting, it depends on prompt payment to maintain the services provided to students.

Food Services do not receive any money from the district's General Fund budget, levies, or property taxes. Food Service is funded only from federal reimbursement and student payments.

Therefore we need to have a Charging Policy in place.

Clinton Massie Schools Charging Policy is as follows:

*We allow the K-5 grade level to charge 3 lunches. After a 3rd charge students are given an alternative meal (cheese sandwich, fruit, vegetable, and milk) until such time their account balance is no longer negative. They will be charged the price they normally pay for lunch, for the “alternative meal”. After the 2nd lunch charge the students’ parents will be contacted so that they can resolve the negative balance.

*We allow 6-12 grade level to charge 1 lunch. After 1 charge students are given an alternative meal (cheese sandwich, fruit, vegetable, and milk) until such time their account balance is no longer negative. They will be charged the price they normally pay for lunch, for the alternative meal. If the negative balance is not resolved within 3 days parents will be contacted so that they can resolve the negative balance.

*If a student has a negative balance, they are not allowed to charge anything for ala-carte.

*Staff members and adults are not allowed to charge their lunches.

STUDENTS WILL NOT RECEIVE THEIR REPORT CARDS IF THEY ARE IN THE NEGATIVE MORE THAN $5.00.
